Expensive Christmas this year due to price hike of butter
With Christmas just round the corner, the price increase of butter is the last thing consumers want on their table during this festive season.
“Butter used to be around 80p to 90p and is now as much as £1.40 for own-brand,” says Matthew Holmes, a community and social editor at the Guardian.
A report on ABC, Australia’s national broadcaster, shows concern on the effect of this price hike on baked goods such as croissants and buttery biscuits.
As butter is one of the key ingredients in bakery, it looks like many consumers would have to tighten their purse strings on other expenses, while trying to still keep the festive mood.
